Patterson, the "Apricot Capital of the World," is located in California's lush central valley within a short drive to both San Francisco and Sacramento. A number of popular recreation areas such as Lake Tahoe, the Monterey/Carmel area and Yosemite National Park are also within driving distance. Home to approximately 13,000 residents, the city is located on Highway 33 near Interstate 5 in Stanislaus County. Each May, Patterson residents take part in the two-day Apricot Fiesta at the city center. Over the years, the Fiesta has grown from a one-day celebration held in the city park to a month long series of events. The list of activities for Fiesta Weekend is increasing every year and includes a king and queen pageant, a crafts faire, art contest, petting zoo, family fun, food and entertainment. The city also presents a Farmers Market and Street Faire every Saturday evening during June, July and August.
